A NickCentric lifestyle is not an
easy thing to come by. First off, you need a Pearl to suggest one
to you. That's what happened. As I mentioned elsewhere on this site,
my friend Pearl (aka the girl I want to marry) suggested in one
of our many conversations that I do a series of photoshop images
to the tune of NickCentric, a term/phrase that I hadn't thought
of myself. Pearl has always enjoyed my "Bonsai Life" series
and wanted me to do something else, and, well... this seemed perfect.
But here entered the problem - How does one visually describe eccentricity?
I mean, I consider myself to be pretty eccentric, as do many people
I know. But in all actuality, eccentricity is a relative term. "Bonsai"
which loosely equates to "small" is more or less small
to everyone. But what I do that I think is eccentric might be run-of-the-mill,
or even boring to someone else. And it's those "someone elses"
that matter, because they will be the ones looking at the artwork
and deciding it's relevance.
However - for a while now, I have been very much wanting to stroke
my ego a little and prove something to myself and the world. It's
also a challenge that I have given myself. That challenge is to
become the most readily found "Nick" in the search engines.
Not just "Nick Steglich", cuz, well... that brings up
about 3 pages/30 listings of websites about me. Nope, I want to
be the most well known (as far as the internet is concerned) Nick
that has ever been. Competition is fierce with people like Nick
Lachey, Nick Nolte, Nick Drake, Nick Cave and of course the television
station/product line from Nickelodeon and Nick-at-Nite. There are
also some other, less well-known Nicks out there that have blogs
and stuff like that. In all, I don't even come close to where I
want to be. I have a whole bunch of sites out there, and though
those are great and a big help, especially seeings as my sites like
www.FocusPower.com
and www.Holmes-Page.com
really help to boost my rankings, nothing I have made yet has been
a site that is totally dedicated to me. And by me, I mean the REAL
Nick. The Nick with emotions and desires, passions and things to
share with the world. I have www.NickSteglich.com
and nick.focuspower.com
as a couple of my repository and resume sites that, well... are
great and all, but those sites are designed for specific purposes,
and nothing else. So this is my chance.
On top of all of that, I figured that an attempt to become the
world's most findable "Nick" is probably about the most
eccentric I can be. I mean... That's kind of egotistical even. But
truthfully, it's less about the ego-stroking and considerably more
about the challenge of it.
